Hello! I'm going to start this week's post off with a Bible Verse I read just this morning that I'm writing this and really liked. It's 1 John 2:17 which says, "And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever." I love this, because it is easy to worship what's on this earth, but John reminds us that everything on the earth will pass away. On the other hand if we choose to worship God and obey his will, we will receive what's eternal. This means eternal life, but also I think it means qualities that we will receive when we seek God that will last forever such as faith, patience, peace, and other fruits of the spirit. These will last forever whereas worldly things such as how many likes you get on Instagram will pass away and be forgotten. So, this morning I challenge you to trust the will of God and choose to worship Him instead of what's capturing your attention on this earth!
This week has been a little crazy for me, and I recently asked some people what they would want me to write about, and one suggestion was to reintroduce myself, so I'm just going to do that real quick! The next two weeks will also be suggestions from other people, but those will take me a little longer to write about, and I want enough time during my week to do that :)
So hello again! I'm a freshman at UGA studying Human Development and Family Science. I really love this major and the college of FACS in general and highly recommend it if you're interested in helping people live an optimal life. I'm pretty sure I want to be an occupational therapist which I am so excited for. My favorite thing I've done at UGA so far is joining ESP. It's a non-profit in Watkinsville that provides after school programs and many events for people with special needs around Athens. I love it, and even if you have never been around people with special needs, it is so fun and a great experience! The easiest way for me to describe my personality is that I'm an enneagram nine. I'm pretty lazy and hate making decisions, but at my best I can see all sides, listen well, and have a laid back personality while still sticking up for others. Some "fun facts" about me is that I'm a twin, I'm equally in love with coffee and sweet tea, and 9/10 times you'll find me eating fried chicken or Mexican for dinner. Lastly, something I'm learning this season is how to put my identity in God. The world can and will define you, but if you know who you are in God, you will not be shaken! I'm working on this by trying to get up around 30 minutes earlier each day to read my Bible. (It usually ends up being 15 minutes to actually wake up then 15 minutes reading my Bible haha.) I'm not the best at it, but when I do get that quality time with God I can see how little things throughout my day don't affect as much, which is really helpful.
That's all I have for today, but the next two weeks I will talk about finding joy in God and how to handle stress. I hope y'all have a great week!! Let me know if there's any way I can be praying for you!
Loved your reintroduction and the bible verse!
