As things are wrapping up with school, I've been thinking about how much I'm looking forward to summer. Maybe this isn't the same for you, but I'm sure you've had a time where you've been waiting for a specific day or month to arrive, because it's something you've been excited for. I'm not trying to be cliche and start talking about "waiting seasons", because what I'm going to try to make a point of is that God has made every day with a purpose, full of goodness that is worthy of your attention. Psalm 118:24 says, "This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it." Yeah I might want to be laying out on the beach right now, but there is a purpose in today that I don't want to miss out on. I recently heard a story of a senior in college who has been a young life leader for four years and at her last work shift at Fully Loaded, one of the students of the high school went up to her and said she doesn't want to live in darkness anymore and asked when the next young life club was. That was the very last club this Young Life leader was going to lead and she said that that was the most she's seen God move in that high school in those four years, and she was so glad she didn't just check out because she's a senior. If God can do something so amazing during someone's last shift at Fully Loaded, I wouldn't discount your day, no matter what it is!
Maybe you're not looking forward to anything today or this week. Maybe it feels mundane or stressful. But maybe God will surprise you. Jeremiah 29:13 says, "You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all of your heart." Choose to look for God now even when you are expectant, waiting for the future. 1 Corinthians 3:16 says, "Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's spirit dwells in you?" God is with you every single day, and I know he's not chilling next to you doing nothing. Rejoice in today and what God has for you!
What a special last Fully Loaded for that senior to witness God's work!
